Tears of Iron: Prologue: Part 2 (New stuff is in bold)

Prologue: Blood and Snow

While the cold wind played with his cape, Thoronir looked down at the battlefield. The warrior had a great view from atop the hill. He could clearly see the dead being dragged away and the snow slowly regaining its white color. In silence, he ignored the cold sneaking through the holes in his cape. The war had made his once handsome face weathered and harsh. His long gray hair looked weak and dull while a full beard decorated his chin. He closed his eyes and kneeled down while stabbing his sword deep down in the snow. A single tear slid down his cheek and got stuck in his beard. It is over, we have lost. Tomorrow I too will die. In silence he commemorated the fallen. “My lord, the prince demands your immediate presence.” It was Tymvir's voice, the captain of his guard that abruptly broke the silence. One of the only men that still remains, thought Thoronir. He nodded and got up slowly, readly to follow Tymvir. “The prince has ordered you and the other vassals to come to his tent to discuss the plan of attack.” Tymvir went on. So it begins again. “Is he still intending to fight this lost war until the end?” snapped Thoronir louder than intended. He rigidly wandered to the tent. His captain was unimpressed.”With your permission, my lord but we could gain much glory with an attack.” He hesitated for a moment. “Just you should be angry after-.” “Enough!” Thoronir's facial features hardened and his sword hung loose in its sheath. “I am sorry my lord, I spoke to freely.” Tymvir apoligized himself and waited outside the tent. It was richly decorated and by far the largest in the camp. The tent was light-blue with gold-colored accents and on top of it stood the flag of the snow prince. The banner showed an icy hand grasping an extinguishing flame. Thoronir let out one last sigh and stepped in. The inside was soberly furnitured with only a bed, a chest and a with some modest carvings decorated table. A few oil-lamps covered the inside in an eerie blue light. Thoronir saw that the other lords had already gathered around the table on which a large map laid. Only two other lords were left and both of them were true men of the north. Or so they call themselves, he thought out of spite. These lords were both big and bulky and wore platemail and a cape of rabbit-fur. They did not trust Thoronir. That was not fair, he could not help it that all the other lords from the Empirical North had betrayed the prince. He could feel their judging stares, lord Harend Damer and lord Hodling Malger where not known to be forgiving. Between the two lords there walked a tall figure restlessy around. It was Raddin, The Prince of Snow. His arms were on his back as he stood in a naturally superior posture. The prince wore bright-blue plate armor that seemed to be made out of ice. With that pale skin he looks like an ice statue. This illusion was strenghtened even more by the blueish light and Raddin's bright-blue eyes. These eyes observed Thoronir's every movement. Then after what seemed like hours, he finally raised his voice. “Repeat the scout's reports Hodling so that our friend Thoronir may also prepare.” Hodling's gaze revealed that he did not want to do that at all. He had already opened his mouth to protest. “Do not make me remind you that he really is on our side.” spoke the Prince in a soft voice. Even so, you could see the fear in Hodling's eyes. He bowed hastily and then turned to Thoronir. While he was speaking he wiped the sweat of his face with his sleeve. “That old Darnir reports that their main army is coming...” he gulped. “Fifteenthousand swords so certain of their victory that they simply ignored our scouts.” Harend looked at Thoronir angrily. “If your friends had not betrayed us then-” he began but was promptly silenced by Raddin's chilly gaze. Harend also read the other reports. The snow prince seemed to have only twelvehundred men left to fight. The others were to badly hurt or dead. There were no deserters in Raddin's army. “So...” spoke prince Raddin without hesitation. “They leave us little choice. We will fight here tomorrow and die honorably.” I knew it would come to this, thought Thoronir. Raddin was already rolling up the map when Thoronir laid his hand on his shoulder. The next moment he was knocked down by Hodling's mailed fist. The next thing he knew he was laying in the corner while both Hodling and Harend stood over him with grim looks on their faces. “Enough!” roared Raddin with a chasm-deep voice. He turned to the attackers “My lords it is clear to me now that you are both incapable of handling these kind of matters.” “But, my lord the traitor tried to-” Harend defended himself. “I will not let myself be called a traitor.” Interrupted Thoronir. “My prince, you must allow me to challenge him.” Thoronir got up staggering and wiped the blood from his face with his sleeve. Harend smiled and flexed his muscles. “Let the traitor fight, my lord. Even though such a death would still be far to honorable for him.” “Enough.” said the prince softly almost a whisper. But there was something with his voice, something that made no-one dare to speak. “I have few enough good men as it is without my generals killing eachother. I command the 'Northern' lords to inspect the encampment."

Random (Dark) Poetry

Here is some random poetry I made. I know it is quite dark  but I usually like that in poetry.

Death was decided, the creature fell
Stabbed his heart, crushed his skull
A mystery Born, a shadow appeared
The killer's identity, raveled by mists
The reaper's clock stirred and slowly ticked on
Tick-Tack, a death's heart beat

Death must be fed, a storm of souls
A new soul's arrival, a new one doomed
Killed by a shadow, swallowed by mists
The reaper is ready, the execution has began
Tick-Tack, a death's heart beat

Death's incarnate, hungry for souls
A mask removed, a secret revealed
His incarnate does the slaughter
Tick-Tack, a death's heart beat

Absence of sunlight, realm of death
A grim reaper's throne, the torturing howls
Tick-Tack, a death's heart beat

A broken clock, the ticking stops
Silent and cold, realm of death
A shadow appeared, a throne retaken
Incarnate becomes king, the ticking returns
Tick-Tack, a death's heart beat

Tears of Iron: Prologue: Part 1

Here is part 1 of the prologue of Tears of Iron.

Let me know if you think I should write longer parts but update less frequently or not.

Working on stuff.

I do not have enough translated yet to post something decent but I do have this. It is not much, I know it is not much. It is just some dialogue written out for some campain I am making for The Battle For Wesnoth but at least it shows that I am doing stuff I guess =D.

Raddin = Hero
Hodling = Blacksmith
Elder = Lidean (This one seriously sucks)
Sidekick = Gerald
Pet Wolf = I do not know perhaps not really name but more of a word, like "Fangs" but less over-used.

First scenario

Your parents send you out of the house to pay the blacksmith for the rake he made.

Father: "Hurry up Raddin! Bring this money to Hodling to pay for this rake he made."
A hero response might be stupid to give in this situation.
Anyway should you decide to talk to your parents again they will just repeat themselves.
"I already told you Raddin! Go pay the blacksmith for our new rake."

Outside there are generic peasants with generic responses.
"Oh hey there, Raddin! Have you heard about the orcs yet?"
"Ah, Raddin! I am afraid I do not have the time to talk."

The blacksmith will give you a choice, either give him the money or do him a favor.
"Hey Raddin! I have not seen you for quite some time. But I suppose your father send you. "
"Yes."
"I see, for the new rake I guess. Well I will give you a choice, you could just pay for the rake or do me a favor and hold the money yourself."
Choice time.
" Just take the money if you will." ---> "Are you being lazy here again ? Well you should pay the elder a visit anyway he had some errands to do."

" I will do you a favor." ----> "Great, I was afraid that perhaps you might be too tired . So, the thing is that I usually get my new delivery of metal each moon. I It is unusual for (name) to be late and I fear something might have happened to him. Why do not you go look for him perhaps one of his cart wheels is broken.

Choice
- "Sure, I can do that. " ----> "Great, let me know if he is okay. Also be careful, there might be orcs out there "
- "No, I would rather not." ----> "That will be x gold pieces then. Have a nice day."

Ask him about the orc raids: "I know nothing only rumors but elder Lidean assured me that our lord would protect us."

I propose running into your sidekick when leaving the smithy and having him join you.

If you did the side quest, going to the elder will progress naturally. If not I will include the dialogue for that as well.

Anyway, if you are doing the side quest the sidekick will come with you otherwise he will urge you to go to the elder with him.

So,

"Raddin, there you are! I was looking for you. The day has been really boring so far. What are you up to?
If helping the blacksmith: "I am doing Hodling a favor." ---> "Well, it sure beats doing nothing. Let us go check on that trader."
If not: "Not much really." ---> "You should come with me, my mother told me to help the elder."

Leaving the village, into the forest gives you a line about recognizing your pet wolf.

"Come here boy! Do not be mad at me, you know I may not let you in the village." or something along these lines, the description will explain more.

Later they come across the merchant's dead body and his crashed cart. They see a few wolves around eating from the body.
Sidekick: “Foul beasts! Now I see why they wont let your wolf in the village.”
Hero: “Surely you do not mean (Name), he is tame.”
Sidekick: “Sure, let us just fight these wolves, allright?”

After the battle with the wolves.
Hero: “Strange, never before have the wolves been so agressive.”
Sidekick: “Well let us just hope that your pet does not get mad as well. Either way, there is little we can do for (Name) now. “
Hero: “You are right, we should return to Hodling and tell him so that he can send some men to pick up the metal.”

Back at the smith
Smith: “So have you found out what happened to my delivery? Let us just hope that it did not fall into the hands of the orcs.”(These jokes are his way of dealing with the rumors.)
Hero: “We found the delivery but I am afraid that (Name) did not make it. “
Sidekick: “He was attacked by some of these bloody wolves.”
Smith: “A shame really, he was a good man. Why are the wolves being so agressive? Anyway, you should go and visit the elder I heard he could use a hand.”

Outside
Sidekick: “Come on, Raddin. Let us go to the elder we can use my father's boat to get there.”
(He says this exact same line if you chose not to do the side quest.)

At the elder's house
The Elder: “What is it? I am busy.”
Hero: “Hodling told us you could use some help.”
The Elder: “And ofcourse I have to ask for it to get any. Anyway now that you lazybones are here I guess I have a task for you.”
Sidekick: “And that would be?”
The Elder: “I would not be so cheeky if I were you. After all I still have not decided whether the wolves would be satisfied by a sacrifice or not.”
Hero: “Could you please tell us what that task might be, honorable elder?”
The Elder: “Finally some respect. Well I will be sending you two rascals to the forest along with some of the hunters to attack the wolf pack that has been harassing us. They have been abnormally agressive and you have to find out why.”
Hero: “Okay elder, right away.”
The Elder: “Here have some of this herbs I believe they might prove useful. No, not you Gerald you should learn some proper respect first.”

To the wolves, outside you meet up with the hunters.

Hunter (Name) : “So you guys are here to help us hunt down these beasts. (Optional when done side quest.) I heard you have some experience with wolves as well, that will come in handy.”

Raddin: “That is correct. Come here boy let us go on a hunt.”
Hunter: “Careful there, son. Wolves are dangerous.”
Raddin: “ (Name) is not dangerous! I tamed him.”
Hunter: “Better watch out, there is a reason he is not allowed in the village. Anyway according to these tracks the wolves should be a short distance to the west/east/south/north.”

They move to the wolves, with perhaps a “Great Wolf” as the pack leader.

Hunter: “There they are! Watch out for that big one.”
Gerald: “Let us kill those monsters!”

After the battle

Gerald: “I have to say Raddin, your wolf really did help us.”
Raddin: “I told you he was tame.”
Hunter: “Brace yourselves! There is another one coming.”
Another Hunter: “Is- is that a direwolf?

Direwolf appears and get killed
